The Design/Build Process Getting Started: The Design/Build Process
Whether
you call, e-mail or just stop in, your first decision should be
to have
Kitchens By Design visit your home and inspect the
space that is to be renovated. At your home, we will interview
you and
your spouse to find out what your goals and desires are and to
measure all spaces associated with your project. Your presentation
generally takes place within two to three weeks of our initial
home visit. If the project requires an architect’s involvement
then
the presentation will be scheduled at a time when all information
is available. Conceptual floor plans and an itemized proposal are
presented to you at our showroom. There is a non-refundable nominal
fee involved for these first two steps. The written proposal is
yours to take home. Conceptual floor plans remain the property
of Kitchens By Design until you decide to move ahead and
sign a contract or retain our company to further develop all aspects
of
your project. The important thing to remember is that we are looking
to formulate the best ideas into your presentation by capturing
your dreams and desires and marrying them to our professional expertise.
Getting
Started: New Construction
If you are building a new home, make
an appointment with our designers to come into the showroom with
your plans and talk about your project.
Remember that Kitchens By Design does not do just kitchens.
Our design expertise and outstanding craftsmanship in the field
afford
us to do any or all rooms in your home including libraries, home
theaters, bathrooms and master suites. The same nominal fee applies
to new construction presentations.
The Retainer:
After your presentation, the decision to move forward
is yours. If you wish to further develop your project plans then
you may
retain us for 5% of the estimated project costs. We will finalize
all floor plans, detail precise elevations, provide electrical
plans, cabinet listings and a complete and comprehensive renovation
budget. All this is now yours to keep. Should you decide to sign
a contract with us the cost of the retainer is credited towards
your contract. The Contract:
Contracts are usually signed after the floor plans
have been finalized and the cabinetry has been chosen. Many projects
require a continuation
of the design process and finalizing architectural details associated
with the renovation of your home. These decisions are carefully
mapped out and are placed on time lines so that they can be addressed
in a reasonable fashion without causing undo stress and anxiety.
At this time a deposit is due to order your cabinets.
You can be assured that Kitchens By Design will be with you every
step of the way from concept to installation & renovation.
